Project Citizen

Secondary 12-Nov-2025

Lakshmipat Singhania Academy recently hosted Project Citizen ’25 for Classes 3 to 12, on 12th November, a unique educational initiative that inspired students to research, reflect, and respond to pressing issues facing India today. The four Houses — Vayu, Agni, Jal, and Prithvi — worked enthusiastically for weeks, engaging in research, surveys, and social outreach activities centred on their allotted themes.

The essence of Project Citizen lies in identifying social issues that affect our community, spreading awareness, and suggesting practical, actionable solutions to bring about positive change. Each House selected a relevant topic and carried out creative campaigns both within and beyond the school premises. Topics ranged from Unemployment, Skill Development, Geriatric Care, and Community Safety in the senior school to Healthy Tiffin Movement, Mental Health Awareness for Students, Say No to Child Labour, and Helping Senior Citizens for the junior school.

Participants were divided into four specialised groups — Explaining the Problem, Existing Government Policies, Class Policy, and Action Plan. Each group collaborated to study their issue in depth, examine existing government programmes, and propose innovative, workable solutions. This process included preparing research reports, collecting and analysing data, conducting surveys, and compiling their work into a detailed binder. Students also designed posters, visuals, and house badges to highlight their causes. Teachers guided and encouraged them throughout, reinforcing the importance of civic responsibility.

In the junior school, Vayu House students created colourful posters and pamphlets promoting the message “Eat Right and Feel Bright.” They organised a lively Healthy Press Meet to discuss government initiatives. Agni House campaigned passionately on the theme “Say No to Child Labour,” presenting a special assembly, displaying posters, and distributing bookmarks bearing the message “Small Hands Deserve Books, Not Tools.” They visited ghats and slum areas to identify out-of-school children and distributed school supplies. Jal House emphasised that mental health is as vital as physical well-being; one student even interviewed a psychologist to understand stress management strategies. Prithvi House reached out to the elderly by visiting old-age homes, teaching digital skills, donating groceries and clothing, and assisting them with daily tasks. Their heartfelt assembly skit encouraged peers to “Adopt a Grand friend.”

In the senior segment, each House delivered a creative and meaningful presentation. Vayu House highlighted Disaster Management through an engaging awareness plan and mock preparedness drive. Prithvi House examined Unemployment in India, analysing socio-economic causes and proposing skill-based reforms. Agni House focused on Skill Development, presenting innovative ideas for vocational training and inclusion. Jal House stood out with a moving presentation on Geriatric Care, supported by a touching video of their visit to an old-age home. An interactive Q&A with the judges sparked insightful discussions, including questions like “What are two major reasons for unemployment?” and “How can schools take steps to overcome these issues?”

Through Project Citizen, students not only learned about governance, policies, and problem-solving but also discovered their own potential to create meaningful change—proving that the voices of young citizens truly matter.
